Do you prefer Disneyland or Walt Disney World? First, take a look at what both parks have to offer.

DISNEYLAND VS WALT DISNEY WORLD

Part 1- Parks:
The Disneyland Resort has two parks: Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, as well as Downtown Disney. Disneyland Park has 8 lands: Main Street U.S.A, Adventureland, Frontierland, Critter Country, New Orleans Square, Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, and Toontown. The icon of the park is Sleeping Beauty Castle. Disney California Adventure has 6 lands: Buena Vista Street, Cars Land, Grizzly Peak, A Bug's Land, Hollywood Land, and Paradise Pier. The icon is Mickey's Fun Wheel.

The Walt Disney World Resort has 4 parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom, as well as Disney Springs (The newer Downtown Disney). Its official icon is Cinderella Castle.
Walt Disney World wins this category.

Part 2- Hotels:
There are 3 hotels: the Disneyland Hotel, the Grand Californian Hotel, and Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel. Walt Disney World has over 20, and some of its most popular include the Contemporary Resort, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Walt Disney World wins this category.

Part 3- Dining:
Disneyland has about 15-20 restaurants, and 5 character meals.

First up is Ariel's Grotto, located in DCA. Ariel's Grotto features Disney Princesses at breakfast and lunch, and food is the traditional American fare. You'll see Ariel (She is the hostess so she's always present), and 4 other princesses. The other 4 princesses are random, but here are the possible princesses you will see along with Ariel:
  • Cinderella
  • Aurora
  • Belle
  • Snow White
  • Jasmine
  • Rapunzel
  • Tiana

Next, we have Goofy's Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel. Food is the usual fare.
Characters:
  • Goofy (was present before the character change)
  • Mickey
  • Minnie (was present before the character change)
  • Pluto (was present before the character change)
  • Chip 'n' Dale

Previous Characters:
  • Mad Hatter
  • Alice
  • Snow White (Random)
  • Jasmine (Random)
  • Aladdin
  • Aurora
  • Belle (Random)
  • Donald Duck (Random)
  • Baloo
  • Prince Phillip
  • Max Goof (Rare)

Plaza Inn is located inside Disneyland Park, and Minnie's Breakfast in the Park is always a good option to pick. Food is the usual fare, and you will see Minnie Mouse, as well as a handful of other characters including:
  • Winnie the Pooh
  • Tigger
  • Eeyore
  • Chip 'n' Dale
  • Rafiki
  • Fairy Godmother
  • Max Goof
  • Captain Hook
  • Geppetto
  • Pinocchio

Storyteller's Cafe is another good option, and you can find it inside the Grand Californian Hotel. Food is the usual fare, and you will meet Chip 'n' Dale, and a handful of other animal friends including:
  • Pluto
  • Kenai
  • Koda
  • Baloo (Rare)
  • King Louie (Rare)
  • Br'er Bear (Rare)
  • Br'er Fox (Rare)
  • Meeko (Random)
  • Terk (Random)

And lastly, we come to the Surf's Up Breakfast with Mickey and Friends at Disney's PCH Grill. Breakfast is the usual fare, and they offer both Mickey Waffles and Mickey Pancakes. You can always meet Mickey, and you'll usually find 4-5 other friends of his including:
  • Minnie
  • Daisy (sorry no Donald)
  • Pluto
  • Goofy
  • Stitch (sorry no Lilo)

Walt Disney World has over 30 restaurants, and lots of character meals, and the characters are not random. My 5 personal favorites are Chef Mickey's (Where you can meet Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald), Cinderella's Royal Table (Cinderella, Ariel, Aurora, Snow White, and either Jasmine or Rapunzel), Garden Grill (Chip 'n' Dale, Mickey, and Pluto), 'Ohana (Mickey, Pluto, Lilo, and Stitch), and the Crystal Palace (Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet). Walt Disney World wins this category.

Part 4- Characters:
Both Disneyland and Walt Disney World have a variety of characters you can meet. However, some are exclusive to one park/location.

In Disneyland Park:

  • Donald and Daisy in Town Square/Main Street
  • Snow White on Main Street (Random)
  • Ariel on Main Street (Random)
  • Aladdin, Jasmine, and Genie in Adventureland
  • Moana in Adventureland
  • Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Rabbit (Random) in Critter Country
  • Tiana in New Orleans Square
  • Boba Fett, Chewbacca, and Darth Vader at Star Wars Launch Bay in Tomorrowland
  • Stormtroopers wandering around Tomorrowland
  • Princesses in Royal Hall and Fantasy Faire, usually a combination of Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, or Snow White in Royal Hall, and Rapunzel and Flynn Rider in Fantasy Faire
  • Fairy Godmother, Peter Pan, Captain Hook, and Merida in Fantasyland
  • Mickey and Friends in Toontown, usually Mickey, Minnie, Chip 'n' Dale, and Pluto, and sometimes Donald, Daisy, and Goofy.

In Disney California Adventure:
  • Fab 5 pals on Buena Vista Street
  • Disney Junior characters, Anna, Elsa, & Olaf, and the Incredibles in Hollywood Land
  • Star-Lord, Gamora, and Groot near Guardians of the Galaxy- Mission: BREAKOUT
  • Woody, Jessie, and Buzz at Paradise Pier near their attraction

At Walt Disney World, you can meet most of the same characters as in Disneyland.

  • Peter Pan in Fantasyland
  • Winnie the Pooh and Tigger in Fantasyland
  • Alice in Fantasyland (Mad Hatter and White Rabbit no longer meet here, but the Tweedles may RANDOMLY appear)
  • Ariel in Fantasyland
  • Gaston in Fantasyland
  • Belle in Fantasyland in the Enchanted Tales with Belle show
  • Donald, Goofy, Minnie, and Daisy in Fantasyland at the Silly Sideshow

Walt Disney World and Disneyland tie in this category.

Part 5- Rides:
Disneyland Park has the same rides as WDW's Magic Kingdom, except for Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Snow White's Scary Adventures, Matterhorn Bobsleds, and Pinocchio's Daring Journey, which are not in WDW. Disney California Adventure has some exclusive rides like Mickey's Fun Wheel, California Screamin', Silly Symphony Swings, and King Triton's Carousel of the Sea. WDW has exclusive rides too, such as Expedition Everest, Avatar: Flight of Passage, and Test Track. Disneyland wins this category, however.

Now, I personally prefer both, but you decide in the poll which is your favorite.

Good comparison overall, although a bit of details you might have forgotten when it comes to characters:
The Pixar characters at Animal Kingdom (Flik, Russell, and Dug, who shows up randomly)

I think Sulley still meets near the Monsters Inc ride at Disneyland, but his appearances are random. Same thing with Flik at A Bug's Land

There are probably others I forgot to mention, but these are the ones I noticed
