I was wondering if anybody saw this item in MiceChat's recent In The Parks:

CRITTER COUNTRY:
In a bit of news that is unrelated to Halloween, there seems to be a bit of work going on in Critter Country in the area that contain the Winnie-the-Pooh meet and greet. Nothing official has been announced just yet, but it appears that the meet and greet, which was only a temporary installation, will be going away.

I hope this area doesn't go away. It seems to always have a line and is one of the ferw things they have over in Critter Country. It wouldn't make sense for them to take it out because they couldn't really build an attraction on top of it. And, there's already substantial seating areas around there that they don't need more. If anything, I hope they make something a little more permanent. Granted, I don't go over there all the time, but Winnie the Pooh is one of Disney's most enduring characters and it would be a shame for them to stop the meets.

I wouldn't trust anything posted in MiceAge/MiceChat. The people there are overly-negative.

Hopefully they aren't getting rid of the meet and greet but making it better... and if they ARE removing it hopefully they have new homes planned for Pooh and company as it would seem silly to get rid of these popular characters. If they have better plans for this area then I am not attached to the current area (although I thought it was fairly nice) as long as it doesn't result in a loss of characters.... but as you said Loren... I dont know what else they could place here.

On a slightly different note... I dont understand why they are doing this *now* and didn't do it when they had all of Critter Country closed a few months ago... it seems like it would have made more sense to do it then.

I'm not particularly married to the current area either, but, I did think it was a good use of the space having a meet and greet there.

Ideally, what they should do is have room for both the Pooh characters AND other critter characters. The Br'ers have been known to roam and I kind of like that, but, it would also be nice to have an organized space for them. And, then, of course, there are other critters such as Meeko, Thumper and Miss Bunny who could have a nice home here. I know Disneyland, at least, has Meeko.

Disneyland really doesn't need any less characters than it has already! This will be an epic fail if they remove it completely!

This.

They also called it "temporary" even though the area has been there since at least the 90's.

I'm guessing there's a 99% chance it's getting some TLC and that's it. There's no logical reason to remove it, just enhance it or move it somewhere else.

I thought I should actually close this discussion as I found out that the Winnie the Pooh meet-and-greet in Critter Country is NOT being removed as rumored. It is a refurbishment. I can see why one might think it was being removed because all the pieces of the meet-and-greet are gone. But, according to cast members, there were 3 trees that were potentially dangerous to guests and they needed to fix this. No word as to how long the refurbishment will be, but, it will be back. In the meantime, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Bre'r Bear and Bre'r Fox will continue to make regular appearances in Critter Country.
