In the last few days there have been several new rumors popping up about the Fantasyland expansion that is underway in WDW's Magic Kingdom.

First, was the official news from Disney a couple weeks that some aspects from the expansion were being reconsidered.  Now, some of the details of the changed plans are starting to leak out.

Lee on WDW Magic has reported that his inside sources are telling him the following:

The Cinderella and Aurora Meet and Greet areas are being replaced by a Snow White themed "thrill ride" with the concept of a mine train coaster.  It would be less intense than BTMRR but a step up from the Barnstormer.  The specifics are still not clear and it could end up being a combination Dark Ride/Coaster... apparently this was one of the original plans for that area that got scrapped for the M&Gs.

The Princesses will move into the area currently occupied by Snow White's Scary Adventure.  This would be a "temporary" move while a more permanent location was constructed (speculation is in the area of the old Sky Way building).  Once that was finished the ride area would be re-themed and turned into a new attraction (maybe like how Mr. Toad's was turned into Pooh?).  How quickly this would happen is unknown.

The current Toontown Fair would still be removed and the two Dumbo's installed.  That area would receive an overall Dumbo theme possibly including re-theming the barnstormer to something from Dumbo and some new tents for food/merchandise locations.

In addition to the new rumors from Lee, Jim Hill, is reporting on some other rumored changes for the other side of Fantasyland.  Basically, that the reason for the current IASW refurb is so they can switch the IASW entrance and exit.  They are also planning on doing something to the entrance to Fantasyland from Liberty Square (what exactly isn't specified).  Both of these changes are to help with traffic flow in the area.  This area can get REALLY congested during peak times and with all the new stuff coming to Fantasyland it can only get worse.  The old Skyway area could also play into these changes.

All of this is rumor currently; however, most of the rumors are pretty solid.  There are several events coming up in the fall that would give Disney the perfect opportunity to announce details of the changes so hopefully we will get some official confirmation sometime soon... if not, hopefully more details will leak out :)

Even though we love characters, these changes sound great to me... the M&Gs sounded from the beginning as something that wouldn't work as well as the promoted... the themeing sounded great, the actually concepts sounded flawed.  Having these replaced with a new attraction seems much better.  I'm not sure how they can fit a "coaster", even a smallish one in the middle of Fantasyland with everything else that is being added; however, since it was in the original plans I guess that isn't much of a concern.  The next question would be how well themed the exterior of this new attraction would be; however, Lee indicates that it would be highly themed so hopefully it will go great with the rest of the additions.  I'm more excited than ever about the expansion now (after being concerned they would scrap the M&Gs and basically replace them with nothing); however, I am still a little sad that Pixie Hollow is out of the plans (at least in its original form... hopefully will come back as something better later)
