Character News and Updates from around the Web - Rapunzel and Flynn, Chewbacca and more!
DisneyDan  Monday, October 18, 2010 10:11:08 AM

Hi all,

In the last few days Rapunzel and Flynn have started meeting in the US Parks. Mr. DAPS posted some neat pictures of the meet 'n' greet area in Fantasyland that used to be Geppetto's Candy Shoppe. In Florida they have been meeting randomly in EPCOT until their new "play and greet" area is finished in the Magic Kingdom. Stitch Kingdom has some good photos here. The pair are due to start meets in Paris at the start of November, so be rest assured we'll be covering that one!

Staying in Disneyland Paris, Chewbacca made a surprise appearance the other day, apparently for a trial greet as DLP are considering returning Star Wars Characters to Discoveryland! Something not seen since Park open! This is very exciting and encouraging news, and we look forward to seeing who else starts greeting.

Moving to California, Mr. DAPS reported that Drawn to the Magic ended this week, after a six year run. No word as to what will replace it, or why it was cancelled, but it was one of the more unique "small entertainment" offerings in recent history at the Disneyland Resort!

Finally some news from Tokyo. Early this year we heard that the former Castle walk-thru attraction that had closed was going to turn into another walk-thru, albeit a princess one. At the time the impression that was given was that this would also be a permanent place for meeting the princesses in a more suitable setting. Stitch Kingdom reveals some more details about this in their article, but sadly no mention of meet 'n' greets, in fact quite the opposite! Apparently Cinderella is deliberately absent, allowing for Guests to freely roam her Castle. All the same, we look forward to experiencing this new walk-thru attraction. One final note on this attraction, you may recall in my earlier trip reports from Tokyo my dislike of their ridiculous no photography rules in random places around the parks - this seems to not be the case for this new attraction. Guests will be encouraged to take photos, especially of the paintings which will reveal a secret message.

Ok, that's all for now.

Dan :)
