Hi all!

Wow what a crazy April it has been for us! For those of you who have been following us on Facebook I am sure you have seen our updates there, but sadly when we travel it is harder to update the website.
But, we are back now and we have some updates to share with you!  [ Read More... ]
We're back!
DisneyDan  Wednesday, March 7, 2012 10:40:39 AM
Hi all!

Sorry it has taken a few days to get this first proper update on the blog, but as you can imagine, after 10 days away, we had a lot to attend to upon our return.

Anyway, I can assure you that over the coming days I will of course be writing all my thoughts in an extended trip report, and updating various areas of the site with new information.

A few new pages have already started to appear; the eagle eyed among you may have spotted some already!

Until my first full report, that's all for now,

Having fun with Chip and Dale

Something Magical, Coming Soon...
DisneyDan  Sunday, February 12, 2012 12:42:09 PM
Hi all,

Tonight I am very proud to be able to share with you for the first time, one of the first images from the brand new version of this site that is coming in the Spring!

Some of the new things which can be seen in this image below include:
  • A brand new logo designed exclusively by us!
  • New site-wide log-in capability for members (not just forum based).
  • New site-wide profile pages (not just forum based).
  • New "'rotating" banner (different phrases upon refresh), and new menu layout.
  • New interactive features such as being able to "check off" characters you have met, and have them show on your profile.
... and much more!!

Something Magical this way comes...

Of course things can change, and we are a way off yet from the launch, but we couldn't wait any longer to give you a small glimpse into what is going on behind the scenes here!

We thank you all for you continued support for this site, and we appreciate all your comments and feedback. Please do let us know what you think of this very small sneak peek!

New Orleans Bayou Bash at Disneyland, Easter Wonderland in Tokyo and more!
DisneyDan  Monday, February 6, 2012 11:15:26 AM
Hi all,

There isn't much to report today, but thought I'd update nonetheless!

Over in Disneyland, it was announced that Mardi Gras would once again return to New Orleans Square in the form of the New Orleans Bayou Bash. It sounds as though it has been lifted right from last year's similar events during the Character Fan Weekends, but has a more extended run dedicated solely to this theme.
According to the Parks Blog there will be "special entertainment will include performances by Princess Tiana, Louis and Naveen and meet & greet opportunities with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald, Goofy, Pluto and Chip ‘n’ Dale – all dressed up in their Mardi Gras finest!"

You can find out more information, including dates on our Forum post about it here.

Loren has posted his most recent weekly character update from Disneyland, and that can also be found here on our Forum.

At Walt Disney World this afternoon, there was a special mini-parade to celebrate the Big Game that happened this weekend. Although I don't have pictures to share, I know that Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale were there on the parade route dressed in their special sports outfits, along with cheerleaders and balloon vendors selling special football shaped balloons!

In Tokyo last week they announced that Easter Wonderland would be returning. This high energy event has a long run through the Spring period, and is very popular, as with all seasonal events at the Japanese parks. You can find out more information about this here in Jon's post on our Forum.

Be sure to check out my first in a series of special articles for character hunting at the Disney Parks and Resorts, which includes our top 10 places. The first Resort is Walt Disney World, which can be found here. Check back in the next few days to find similar articles for Disneyland and Disneyland Paris!

We celebrated Peter Pan's birthday yesterday with a special tribute blog post, which you can see here.

Finally, we know there have been some issues with being able to access the site since Sunday, and we are working with our host to resolve these issues. Please be patient, but be assured we will be fully back on line as soon as possible!

As always we thank you all for your continued support. We really appreciate it.

Character News and Updates From Around the Web - Princess Merida to appear at Hollywood Studios, Disneyland holds character filled marathons and more!
DisneyDan  Monday, January 30, 2012 12:25:43 PM
Hi all,

There hasn't been much in the way of news recently, but I do have just a couple of things to share.
We have been hearing for a while that Princess Merida will appear at WDW later this year, once the new PIXAR movie 'Brave' is released.
We now hear from several different sources that Merida will be appearing with her brothers, but with a twist! We hear that they are going to be moving into Caspian's old location in Hollywood Studios, and Merida will be a face character (PIXAR's first!) and her three brothers will be puppets! We're not sure how this will work as yet, but will keep you posted as always when we hear more.

Over at Disneyland, Loren took part in another marathon, this time the brand new Never Land 5K. He got to meet some awesome characters, so why not check out his character picture filled post about here on our Forum!

We have been working hard as always to add more and more content to the site. Many, many pages have a lot of new photos showing in their "Most Recent" sections, so next time you visit a location or character page be sure to scroll down to see if there is anything new.

We have also added a new section to our Forum - Collector's Corner, where you can discuss all things collectible! From Vinylmations to Pin Trading, we have it covered!

Ok, that's about it for now. I have some special new articles coming later this week so be sure to check back for those!

Character News and Updates from Around the Web - Lunar New Year at Disneyland, Jake and the Neverland Pirates at DCA and much more!
DisneyDan  Thursday, January 19, 2012 12:43:15 PM
Hi all,

This week the Disney Parks Blog announced that there would again be Chinese Lunar New Year Celebrations at Disneyland in California. Moving this year from the Festival Arena though, to near "it's a small world", the event will run from the 20th through to the 29th of January. It will feature Mulan, Mushu and other Disney Characters. We hope that it means there will be some neat costumes for the Characters. Loren will be there, and we look forward to his updates as usual! You can discuss this topic on our topic about it here on our forum.

Staying with Disneyland, the Parks Blog also announced a special "meet-up" event at California Adventure involving Jake and his pirate band from the hit show, Jake and the Neverland Pirates. RSVPs are opening next week apparently, so keep checking their blog for more information. Loren hopes he can attend - we hope he can too! Discuss this event on our forum topic about it here!

Be sure to check out Loren's weekly Character updates from Disneyland - the latest instalment is here.

Finally for California, I thought this was a cool picture from the Disney Parks Blog - the Tick Tock Croc in a tea cup! Now if only he would come out of hiding to meet his fans once again...

Jumping over to Paris now, and DLRP Today posted some more detailed concept art from the new version of the parade. I have to say it looks really neat, and we really look forward to seeing all the cool changes to it in April. From new characters (Fairies and Merlin to name some!), some brand new mini-floats (carriages for the Princesses), new costumes, new music and newly redesigned old floats (that look simply stunning!), the new version of the parade really looks set to be the fantastic boost that the day parade needed (despite our LOVE of Once Upon a Dream Parade!).

Finally, we have heard confirmation from numerous sources across the Internet that the Tarzan show will be returning for another season this year at Parc Disneyland.

Ok, that's all for now!

Character News and Updates From Around the Web - Halloween comes to an end, Talking Mickey at WDW, Christmas Parade Taping at DL and much more!
DisneyDan  Monday, October 31, 2011 12:53:33 PM

Hi all,

After a quiet couple of weeks on the characters news front, like buses, it all comes at once today!

As Halloween Season across the parks draws to a close tonight, I have a few things to mention.

Disney's Animal Kingdom, which for as long as one can remember has featured the Pooh and Fab 5 characters in Halloween outfits during the last few days of the season, has this year dropped this tradition. It was the only place across the WDW Resort you could meet any Halloween characters without having to pay for the parties (with exception to Duffy at Epcot this year). So we say a sad farewell to scarecrow Mickey, mummy Eeyore and all the other cool costumes from years passed.

Over in the Magic Kingdom at the parties, it was reported that Donald has been seen in his pirate outfit on some random occasions even though he is supposed to be meeting as the pumpkin this year.

Moving across the pond to Paris, and this weekend saw the Terrorific Nights return, this year with the addition of some Disney Villains. The event in it's two previous incarnations had billed itself as being the more adult, and much scarier event, with very little Disney influence at all.

This year saw all the regular Villains from DLP's main Halloween Season and parties appear at the Studios events, including Shan Yu, The Witch, Hades, Frollo and Jafar.

I had previously said that the Headless Horseman was making a surprise appearance at the Halloween version of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show for all performance in the last week of October, and much to everyone's surprise, he even made it over to Terrorific Nights as well!

Staying with Paris, but jumping ahead to next week, and in preparation for his Christmas Season public début, Duffy the Disney Bear is appearing at a special Annual Passholder event tomorrow at the Newport Bay Club. From 1pm to 2.30pm, Duffy will greet his fans who hold the Dream pass. I have no working link for the sign up, so you will have to contact Disney if you want to attend.

Over in California, Loren keeps us up to date as always with any character developments there. His latest post can be found here, and includes details about the Christmas Day Parade taping at the park this coming weekend! It is likely to be awesome, but also very hectic, so make sure you read his post about all the events before you go!

Over at WDWMagic, our friend Drew posted that Talking Mickey will be making appearances in WDW this week at Town Square Theater. Disney will probably not release any details about this, and it will be pot luck if you get to meet him. Let us know if you get to see him!

Don't forget to check out all the latest additions to the site.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Dan.

A lot of pages now have more new photographs, with lots more to come. A few pages also have new videos too. I won't list them all, but next time you visit a page be sure to scroll down to see if anything new shows up under the Most Recent images! Of course, on top of that, all those new pages will need descriptions too, but they will come over time when I get chance!

Stay tuned for more updates over the next few days, including our trip to Walt Disney World for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party!

Ok, that's all for now,

Goodbye Angelica, Hello France!
DisneyDan  Friday, August 12, 2011 11:22:59 AM

Hi all,
Just two small things today.
First off we have heard that Angelica is due to leave the Magic Kingdom at WDW on the 20th August. She will remain in California and Tokyo for the time being, but for how much longer is not yet known.
Secondly, Jon and I are off to Disneyland Paris for the weekend this evening and so will not be back at our desks until Monday evening.
We hope to meet lots of random and cool characters of course, and will post an update when we return. In the meantime be sure to come back and check out part five of my Hong Kong Disneyland trip report which I posted earlier.

Have a good weekend everyone,

Dan.

We're back!
DisneyDan  Thursday, July 28, 2011 10:46:35 AM

Hi all!

We are now back from our AMAZING trip to Hong Kong and Hong Kong Disneyland.

We have thousands of pictures to go through as ever!

I have started to put together a trip report and hopefully the first part will be up tomorrow evening! So stay tuned for that one.

We had a totally wonderful time, and had some amazing experiences. Some of the cool things we did included meeting the casts of the Festival of the Lion King and the Golden Mickeys shows, plus we had a special finale dinner with some great characters.

Lots more to come over the coming days including all the pictures, but thought I would share at least those small pieces of information with you.

For now, you can check out my previous two "live" updates I made while in HK complete with some pictures of some of the cool characters we met. Click here and here to find out more!

That's all for now,

Dan.
